How’s everyone doing!

So every once in awhile you’ll be playing on the Ladder and see your opponent do something crazy. And I don’t mean making bad attacks or using bad spells. I mean playing The Great Parliament to make 11 Owls.

Yes, you read that correctly.

So when this happened to me I immediately friended that person and asked them for their list.  This person was kind enough to share the list but said they didn’t come up with it themselves, but instead got it from Eternal content creator and brewer extraordinaire LocoPojo. So without further ado, here’s the deck tech:

LocoPojo’s Tormenting Tomorrow:

4 Sanctuary Priest (Set1 #73)
3 Seek Power (Set1 #408)
4 Desert Marshal(Set1 #332)
4 Find the Way (Set1 #513)
4 Temple Scribe (Set1 #502)
1 Decay (Set1 #95)
2 Secret Pages (Set1 #81)
4 The Great Parliament (Set1 #338)
4 Harsh Rule(Set1 #172)
2 Lumen Defender (Set1 #115)
4 Marshal Ironthorn (Set1 #174)
3 Mask of Torment (Set2 #212)
1 Spell Swipe (Set1 #373)
1 Celestial Omen (Set1 #241)

2 Minotaur Ambassador (Set1 #346)
1 The Last Word (Set1 #309)
1 A New Tomorrow (Set1 #348)
4 Aid of the Hooru (Set2 #230)
4 Time Sigil (Set1 #63)
4 Justice Sigil (Set1 #126)
2 Primal Sigil (Set1 #187)
2 Shadow Sigil (Set1 #249)
4 Seat of Progress (Set0 #58)
4 Seat of Wisdom (Set0 #63)
2 Seat of Cunning (Set0 #62)
3 Seat of Mystery (Set0 #61)

When I decided to do an article about this I reached out to LocoPojo for comment about what his experience was with the deck and he said this:

The main thing that I’d say is that New Tomorrow is actually a very legitimate one-of in Combrei control, and one that will strengthen your reliability against decks like Chalice that don’t have so much late game power as late-game consistency.  I try to orient the deck to win matchups against other control decks specifically and play it into the slow metas, for which Rain of Frogs is a godsend.  Mask-Wise, it’s more reliability to your ramp and something helpful to do with your power, and it allows you to shore up your early game with units like Sanctuary Priest and Temple Scribe which are just generally good anti-aggro tools.”

While the list above doesn’t use Rain of Frogs I can see it being a reasonable include if your meta is becoming slower and more filled with Chalice.  Anyways, let’s see how it played out!

So as you saw in the first two games we REALLY cooked off with the deck. It did everything we wanted and even won by making tons of Owls! Now another win-condition we never really hit was using The Last Word to kill opponents, which I’ve done!  Sadly I was either playing on mobile or off camera when I used The Last Word so I don’t have a record of it. But hopefully this article was helpful and it was as much fun for y’all as it was for me!

As always you can give me comments/questions on Reddit, the Discord, or Twitter @jwiley129.  Thanks so much for following along and I’ll see y’all next time!
