Hey all! I am back for some sweet modern action. We are playing what’s been the talk of magic town for some time now. With the Commander spoilers coming out all anyone can think about are Cats, Cats, and more Cats!

The deck list featured below is my take on the beloved cat tribal in my favorite format! We included all the best cats we could find and got to feature some of my favorite new cards Regal Caracal and Pride Sovereign. Not to mention a long time friend Brimaz!

4 Loam Lion
4 Wild Nacatal
4 Fleecmane Lion
3 Qasali Pridemage
3 Pride Sovereign
3 Brimaz, King of Oreskos
4 Regal Caracal

4 Path to Exile
4 Lightning Bolt
2 Lightning Helix
2 Ajani Vengeant

2 Arid Mesa
2 Wooded Foothills
4 Windswept Heath
4 Razorverge Thicket
2 Sacred Foundry
2 Temple Garden
2 Stomping Ground
3 Raging Ravine
1 Forest
1 Plains

2 Lightning Helix
4 Blossoming Defense
1 Prowling Serpopard
1 Chandra, Torch of Defiance
2 Condemn
1 Qasali Pridemage
2 Stony Silence
2 Rest in Peace

Well… We did it. We cast cats, attacked with cats, and even won with cats. This deck was a ton of fun to play.

The biggest issue I saw was the deck just can’t be aggressive with a top end of Regal Caracal. There are too many other decks in the format doing what we were trying to do but in a better more efficient way. This is the main reason the weaker cards need to go. I still believe the top end of the deck can be strong in the modern format but just not in this shell.

I am really curious to see a more midrange take of the deck so it’s easier to utilize Regal Caracal and Brimaz. I am thinking about brewing up Abzan Cats next! The red was good for Bolt, Helix, and Ajani as well as needed for Wild Nacatal but I am thinking of revamping the deck and taking a new approach. Black would give us decent removal and we could still play a lot of the feature cards.

This won’t be the last time you will see me cating around!
