Welcome back! It’s been awhile since I posted last but I am happy to announce I will now be bringing you regular weekly articles which I will be calling Dave’s Deranged Decks! The name comes from my personal favorite cards Deranged Hermit. Why you ask? Well that’s a story for another day. ~.^

Seeing we can’t play deranged hermit in Modern I decided to bring you all some other exciting creatures this week. Today I will be running G/R Ponza and what a deck it is! Before we check out the list let me paint you a scene. Four magic player friends walk into a bar. Conversation is exchanged, drinks are consumed, and laughs are had. One of those friends has a backpack. This friend will remain anonymous but for a reference we will call him Yon. So Yon turns to me and says “check this out” and out comes the Magic Deck. I flip through, draw a hand, and fall in love. This epic story brings us to tonight, my first play through with GR Ponza.

Wow! That was possibly the most fun I have had in modern in quite some time. The deck is not only very powerful and consistent but it is loads of fun and super degenerate. I was pretty surprised to run into the mirror in round one but fortunately I won the die roll and was able to stay one step ahead of the opponent.

I can’t wait to talk to Yon about how the deck felt. I do have one major complaint. That Cinder Glade hurt me! I also did not play very tight which is a complaint against myself. Whew… good thing this deck is forgiving.

At any rate, if you’re in the market to cast cube cards in modern. Look no further then GR Ponza. Maybe just pack a little more storm hate? Just in case…

If you want to see more of the deck come hang out on stream with me at www.twitch.tv/dcmdame and mention this article and I will gladly showcase it for you! Any comments or suggestions drop them here or on Twitch and I will happily get back to you. As always, thanks for checking out the article and remember it’s you, the fans, which make it all worth it!
