Good Day to Y’all! After our two week excursion into attempting to make Moment of Creation work I wanted to spend a little space here discussing what I learned from it. For me, I feel like Moment of Creation is not a super good card to build around, for many of the reasons I said at the beginning. Being a Praxis card you really need to play a third faction in order to really gain the benefits from it. Additionally if we look at the Primal version of the deck it’s not clear that it is a Moment of Creation deck, but instead a Calderan Cradle deck. So while it was definitely fun playing around with Moment of Creation, and I’ll definitely be playing them in the Casual room for a while, I don’t think it can make it as a good Ranked deck.
That said, how about we play around with an actual good deck? When Tale of Horus Traver came out, Tavrod ran roughshod over the metagame. One of the casualties to this was Praxis Midrange. However thanks in part to the Bartholo nerf and the ever-shifting metagame, Praxis has found itself back on top of the metagame. As it turns out, Heart of the Vault is a very powerful card! So as an example of the stock Praxis deck here is a version I found on Eternal Warcry by ETS mainstay and popular streamer LightsOutAce.
Praxis Midrange:
4 Seek Power (Set1 #408)
4 Torch (Set1 #8)
2 Friendly Wisp (Set1 #82)
4 Power Stone (Set1002 #4)
4 Purify (Set2 #176)
3 Xenan Initiation (Set2 #44)
4 Dawnwalker (Set1 #86)
3 Champion of Impulse (Set2 #173)
4 Crimson Firemaw (Set1002 #3)
4 Sandstorm Titan (Set1 #99)
2 Praxis Displacer (Set1 #100)
3 Obliterate (Set1 #48)
2 Shatterglass Mage (Set2 #181)
4 Heart of the Vault (Set2 #183)
3 Predatory Carnosaur (Set1 #118)
7 Fire Sigil (Set1 #1)
7 Time Sigil (Set1 #63)
3 Amber Monument (Set1 #420)
4 Praxis Banner (Set2 #171)
4 Seat of Impulse (Set0 #54)
Praxis is, at its core, a Time-based Midrange deck. Leveraging powerful units like Sandstorm Titan and Dawnwalker is a time-honored tradition in Eternal. What Praxis does best, over both Combrei and Elysian, is having additional reach in the form of Obliterate and Torch. That and the fact Heart of the Vault is an INSANE value card. Anyways, onto the games!
Aside from the monumental punt that was Game 1, we were in most of the games we played. Sandstorm Titan does a lot of work and can win you a ton of games. I wouldn’t feel too bad about playing Praxis as we move forward in the future!
As always you can give me comments/questions on Reddit, the Discord, or Twitter @jwiley129. Thanks so much for following along and I’ll see y’all next time!
